Description: Join FIRST ONSITE as we take a look into a day in the life of a Complex Project Manager, tasked with assisting our client partners during catastrophic property damages.  We will look at the various stakeholders involved, the scope and scale of response measures needed and the people-centered approach that goes into these large projects.  Finally, we will use these to suggest ways each public entity can build a more robust emergency response program.

Participants in this session will be invited to engage with these tools of the trade such as 3D modelling platforms, thermal imaging and remote cleaning tools.  Each of these will be explained and hands on demonstrations are provided.  This session is well suited for anyone looking to cover the basics of property restoration up to those interested in seeing where the industry is heading in coming years.

When should a claim be reported to the insurer and what are the consequences of late reporting? What reporting are the insured and insurer entitled to receive in the defense of an action? Many professionals manage or may be engaged in parts of litigation, but usually it falls to staff to provide testimony at trial or participate at Examinations for Discovery.  The staff at Boghosian and Allen have graciously put together a mock Examination for Discovery to show many of us what happens behind the scenes, or when claims professionals read reports. They will walk us through how a discovery works, how they look, and what you can expect if you were to ever be discovered. You will see a case play out and get to sit in as an observer to see how counsel questions the respective representatives of all the parties.

The task force has been hard at work in collaboration wit the Ministry to provide more enhancements which will have an impact on our operations and claims. Also, we will discuss the most recent case of Huether v Sharpe, 2025 ONCA 140 and its impact to the ultimate limitation period. This case reaffirms the ultimate limitation period and a municipalities duties when it comes to permit, especially closed permits.
