Description: Today, we see more options to both build and buy new properties. From Recreation Centres to schools, construction as well as property acquisitions have become complex and large. Today, we will examine some important information to consider when purchasing or constructing new buildings. We will look at some common building code issues, misconceptions and key takeaways when looking at these properties. In addition, we will look at potential issues which may arise and land you either in court or before a tribunal.

Description: Most risk and insurance professionals have come across self-represented parties. While they have the legal right to represent themselves in legal matters, they can cause significant burdens. Lack of knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, the inability to understand complex legal arguments and simply cooperating with the court can all be cumbersome. Today, Catherine will take us through some of her own real-life examples and some tips and tricks, as well as expectations the court has for defence counsel when working with self-represented parties.
