Due to the global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the Society of Public Insurance Administrators of Ontario Board of Directors announced March 24, 2020, that it has no choice but to make the necessary decision to cancel the 2020 SPIAO May Conference originally scheduled for May 24-26, 2020, at the JW Marriott Resort in Muskoka, ON.
Protecting the health, safety, and well-being of our members, attendees, sponsors and guests is of utmost importance, and serves as the primary reason for the decision to cancel the 2020 SPIAO May Conference.
Please allow time to process full registration fee refunds for the members who registered for the 2020 SPIAO May Conference. Information for exhibitors and sponsors will be forthcoming. Members or attendees who have booked hotel accommodations must contact the JW Marriott Resort in Muskoka directly to cancel reservations, if he/she has not already received an email confirming a cancellation from the hotel to date.
The conference has been rescheduled to take place May 30th – June 1st, 2021.
Over the years, the SPIAO Executive has been pleased to organize an opportunity to attend top-notch professional development sessions, network, participate in team-building exercises and be entertained – all under the backdrop of world-class conference resort facilities. This three-day workshop is held annually in May and brings speakers from all fields of risk and insurance management, including brokers, underwriters, adjusters, risk managers, solicitors and consultants address the membership. Topics covered include the review of the various types of insurance, fleet safety control, claims handling, risk management concepts, wrongful dismissal, civil law, self-insurance and insurance market trends.
